Shelly Rothstein - Founder and Lead Event Planner
Creative ventures and event planning have always been my passion. I received my BS degree in Journalism & Mass Communications, and an MS in Integrated Marketing Communications. After my university years I joined Alloy Media & Marketing in Chicago (formerly CASS), the largest young adult marketing firm in the US. I launched youth marketing campaigns, nationwide events, spring break tours, college concerts, movie screenings and promotions for clients such as Wrigley, P&G brands, Qwest Communications, Discover Card, Panera, Chicago Tribune and Follett.
After 10 years at Alloy, I began work as an independent event consultant focusing on wedding planning. I orchestrated small intimate weddings to large weddings at locations such as A New Leaf, Prairie Productions, Café Brauer, Saddle & Cycle Club, The W hotel, The Fairmont and The Peninsula. I also began to gain recognition as a preferred event planner at many Chicago venues.
Since 2014 I have worked as a marketing consultant for a Canadian boutique firm, Christianson & Co., specializing in event management for not-for-profit and professional organizations. I have helped plan and manage PASS Summit in Seattle, WA, the world's largest technical training conference for Microsoft data professionals.
My recent and most exciting venture has been the launch of my own company -- Urban Canvas Events Chicago. Since 2014 we have successfully orchestrated bar and bat mitzvahs, fundraisers and weddings in venues throughout Chicago.
In 2017 I returned to school to earn a certification in Social Marketing from DePaul University in Chicago. I have served as a Panel Moderator for the Creative Fields workshop at the University of Chicago, Women In Business conference. I am also on the preferred vendor list at Anshe Emet Synagogue in Chicago.
I actively support and participate in numerous local causes and charities. I currently reside in Chicago with my husband and our two sons, both of whom aspire to be future Chicago Blackhawks!
I am honored to be working with such amazing clients. I look forward to what lies ahead for Urban Canvas Events!
